This Week’s Learning

This week I learnt  2 things in my akomanga. I learnt how to split numbers in Pangarau and how to make a sentence more interesting in Tuhituhi.

Splitting numbers is where you break up the numbers to make it easier to understand and calculate. Making a sentence more interesting is where you take a sentence like “The dog.” and turn it into “The big black dog ran fast down the busy highway.” Which is much more interesting than “The dog.”

I tenei wiki tetahi mea i kitea e au he wero.

I found the jump method in Pangarau challenging because I had only ever learnt about the split method once and that was a while ago.

Next week I would like to do more of making sentences more interesting.

My Action Station

Today I will be writing to you to tell you about my action station.

My action station was School Monster Attack and Matua Eugine was running it. The action station was run in Tane – Mahuta in the big breakout room. We had about 45 minutes to do it and we did it on Friday third block. The year 5 – 8 students have been going to their action stations for the last four weeks.

For School Monster Attack I had to draw my monster. My monster I drew was a gigantic octopus with horns and lots of eyes. Next I had to take a photo of my monster and put it on the background remover. That was not working for me so I did a background remover on Canva and it worked. After that we went outside and took a photo of us being scared. Finally I had to get the picture we took outside and put it as my background then it looked like the monster was scaring all of the kids.

I enjoyed drawing my monster. I also enjoyed going outside and taking pictures. I did not enjoy putting the picture of my monster on the background remover because it was not working. I tried two different ways to remove the background and it finally worked. It was not as cool as I thought it would be. I learnt how to use a background remover site.

Although it was cool I would like to try something new.

What I Did This Week

Today I will be writing to you to tell you what I had done this week.

One thing that I achieved this week that I am proud of is Math because we learnt lots of strategies which made Math easier and me better at Math. Another thing that I am proud of this week is Reading because we changed how we were doing reading which made me understand reading better which also made we get better at reading. The last thing I am proud of this week is Handwriting because I am getting better at writing my K’s.

One task that I really enjoyed this week was starting the new Math book this week because it was a new Math book and there were so many cool tasks to do inside of it. Another thing that I enjoyed this week was doing Handwriting because we had to put Reading and Handwriting together because there was not enough time to do them individually.

Next week I would like to write more short stories by writing a short story at least 2 times a week. I would like to write more short stories because I enjoy writing.

This Weeks Learning

This week I learnt different strategies in Maths.

I also learnt different ways to  celebrate in Kaupapa Matua and we had to go in groups of two and do a research project on a celebration and present it to the class but we have not presented it yet. My buddy and I are doing Chinese New Year.

I found Kaupapa Matua challenging because for the last three days of walk and wheel  week it was really cold, my hands would feel numb because it was so cold and one week it was raining but that was not so bad because me and Pip wore our matching jackets and they were really warm.

I really enjoyed Pangarau because we learnt lots of different strategies to divide, add, subtract and multiply. Which made Maths more easy.

This Week’s Learning

This week I learnt different ways to subtract and add numbers in Pangarau. This week I also learnt how to write a short story in Tuhituhi.

This week I found sphero’s challenging because the ground was bumpy so the sphero’s kept going off course so we had to program it to stop before moving so it didn’t go off course and I didn’t know how to do that.

Next week I would like to learn more about different ways to subtract and add numbers in Pangarau because I found it fun.

This Week’s Learning

Hello this week I have enjoyed Spelling in Literacy because I like writing stories at home and I just like putting all of my ideas into my writing. I have also enjoyed Partitioning in Math because it has helped me get better at halving the number and it’s also a good strategy for working out Math questions.

This week I have found Division challenging because I forgot how to do division.

Next week I would like to continue with Partitioning in Math because it has been very enjoyable for me and it will help me with my Math solving skills and strategies.

I hope you enjoyed reading and I will see you next week.

Oku Whakaaro Huritao

Kia ora I will be writing about 3 things I have achieved this week.

  • Class culture
  • Remembering the kaimihi kupu off by heart
  • The 21 day challenge we are doing in Kaupapa Matua.

My two favorite tasks were the 21 day challenge in Kaupapa Matua and the class culture in Tuhituhi.

I would like to get better at Tuhituhi because it was my goal to get better at writing. I also want to get better at Tuhituhi because I like writing stories and I want to be able to spell well so I can write  good stories.

Athletics Day 2024

On Friday the 25th of October Rawhiti school had their annual Athletics Day. In my opinion I believe that the annual Athletics Day was exhausting, I also believe that the Athletics Day was existing. Finally I believe that Athletics Day is really good for your health and fitness. I will explain these three reasons more in the next couple of paragraphs.

In my opinion I believe that the annual Athletics Day was exhausting because we had to run two laps of the Rawhiti School bike track in the hot sun. I also believe that the annual Athletics Day was exhausting because we had to use our muscles to put the shot put ball and we also had to use our muscles to throw the discus. The last reason that the annual Rawhiti School Athletics Day was exhausting because we had to run as fast as we could for sprints, I am glad that we did sprints before middle distance because after middle distance I felt very tired and exhausting I was out of breath so much that I could not drink my water, for middle distance I came 5th.

In my opinion I believe that the annual Athletics Day was existing because for the first time this year I came in the top five in the middle distance. I also believe that the annual Athletics Day was existing because in discus and shot put I did better than I thought I would because I practiced with a heavier disc and ball than I used at the Athletics Day. The last reason I believe that the annual Athletics Day was existing because my mum came to watch me and when I was running middle distance my friends charred me on which made me feel good.

In my opinion I believe that the Rawhiti School annual Athletics Day is good for your health and fitness because on Athletics Day you have to work hard and when you work hard it works your muscles which makes you more fit. I also believe that Athletics Day is good for your health and fitness because if you do Athletics you have to run and running helps you get healthier because when you sit down you just lay there without moving and then when you go to get up you need to stretch because your muscles have relaxed which can make you lazy because you do not want to move.

In conclusion, I believe that Athletics Day is exhausting, existing and is good for your health and fitness because you have to run as fast as you can, you have to run two laps of the bike track, I also was happy because for the first time I came 5th in middle distance and Athletics Day helps grow your muscles. I hope next year they do Athletics Day the same.

Bio Poem

Today we made a bio poem I enjoyed it.

My favorite part was probably when I did my draft because I got to think really hard about things about me. I also enjoyed doing the draft because I got to write good things about me and what I like and don’t like.

My least favorite part was probably when I had to write down on my draft four adjectives that described me because it was really hard to think about adjectives that described me.

Here is a link to my bio poem

Afed

For the last couple of days we have been going on on this new site called Afed Squad.

My favorite thing we did on Afed was probably after answering a question if you got it right it came up with three green glowing and see through rocks. I also enjoyed when I got to move up to the next level in Afed and I have got 30 out of 30 in the first two levels so far. I enjoyed that the questions are about Maori words and sound’s.

My least favorite part about Afed was probably when there was a question where it asked you to say the word whare but when we did it did not work and I was stuck on that question for ages so I only got 25 out of 30 instead of 30 out of 30.
