In the last couple of days we have been doing lots of mahi around the Olympics one of the activities we have been doing about the Olympics is called the Ancient Olympics where we read things about the ancient Olympics and then answer things about it and do activities about the ancient Olympics.  My favorite part in learning about the ancient Olympics was when I had to write what I had learnt and I also enjoyed trying to find out what word goes in which sentence. I found writing what I wanted to know was hard because I had never really thought of what I wanted to know about in the ancient Olympics. In the Ancient Olympics I would like to find out if the medals were actually made of gold if they even had medals back in the days?

This week as a class we have been doing lots of mahi around the Olympics game this year. In our mahi around Olympics we have chosen 3 NZ athletes and written info about them like how old they are, how many siblings they have, where they are from and when they started doing Olympics. First we had to search up “Paris 2024 NZ team” and chose 3 athletes. I chose Aaron Gate, Lisa Carrington and Tom Walsh. Next we made a new google doc and right there name and what they do in the Olympics game. Aaron Gate does Cycling – Road and Cycling – Track, Lisa Carrington does Canoe/Kayak – Sprint and Tom Walsh does Athletics. We had to also get a picture of the athletes we picked. Then we had to answer questions about the 3 athletes we chose by using going and searching up the answers. I found out that Aaron Gate is 33, Lisa Carrington is 35 and Tom Walsh is 32 and when I told dad he said that Tom Walsh went to the same high school as him. Finally we had to answer the questions that Matua Travis asked us about our athletes we chose and if we answered and got it right we got 25 points.

Today I went to my action station, my action station is Minecraft.

My favorite part was at the start when we started the maze making on Minecraft and we had all of these amazing ideas like we could put red blocks down because we weren’t allowed to use real lava and put a cover on top so its dark and they think the red blocks are real lava. Another idea we had was to make three paths if from the starting point and one was grassy and green, one was rocky and the last one was the lava trick I told you about before and it would be the right way to go but they probably will take the other paths instead. This was my favorite part because I loved hearing everyone’s ideas because some of them were really good ideas.

My least favorite part was also at the start when we had to sit there and listen to everything Elizabeth had to say about Minecraft and all of the rules because my legs were starting to ache from sitting, I was getting pins and needles and I had already done Minecraft before so I new exactly what I was doing.

I didn’t understand when she said that you were not allowed to make zombies because I didn’t know you could make zombies.

I learnt how to move while destroying blocks or creating blocks.

On Friday we did cross country but I,m not sure what place I came.

My favorite part was when I was running to the finish line and I just beat someone with a cm because it felt relieving that I had at least beat someone and every one clapped for me.

My least favorite part was when I had finished my cross country run and I lent over and I felt like vomiting because it tasted disgusting.

I didn’t understand it when they first showed me the course I had to run because the teacher was taking too fast and it was hard to concentrate because other classes were making lots of noise.

I learnt that you have to start jogging and then when you get close to the finish line go as fast as you can because it means you wont get puffed straight away and then you will beat everyone and come first.

On Thursday the 11th of April we went to see Harold the giraffe.

My favorite part was when Harold came out and said the funny jokes and we got to tell Harold some jokes too. My favorite was also when we had a disco party and Harold danced with us on the TV.

My least favorite part was we had to leave because it was so fun.

I didn’t understand it when she was talking about you not actually having blue blood but just very dark red blood.

I learnt how the things inside of you actually work, It was really interesting. I learnt about the heart, the veins, the brain, blood flow and lots of other things.

On Wednesday the 3rd of April we played soccer.

My favorite part was playing the game and at the end some of the football ferns signed a poster we got given. My other favorite part was also when everyone was there we played a big game of all in tag to warm up then we got into groups and started playing soccer.

My least favorite part was at the start when we had to wait for the other classes to come.

I learnt how to be a goalie but it was much easier to be a goalie because the goals were much smaller. They were fold done goals so that was why they were much smaller.

Today I went to my action station, my action station is origami.

My favorite part was making my fox origami my favorite origami was the fox because the fox could stand up and it was really really cute.

My least favorite part was trying to find an origami step by step to follow I found it my least favorite part because I was just scrolling and I really wanted to get started on an origami.

I didn’t understand how to do this weird fold at first then I got the hag of it, you like pushed the paper together then pushed the paper down.

I learnt how to do lots of origami I made one box with a lid, One fox, One chick and two origami dogs.

On Wednesday mornings we go down to the hall for Mau Rakau.

My favourite in Mau Rakau is learning how to do the waiwainukus with the rakau, I like learning the waiwainukus with the rakau because you get to spin the rakau in lots of cool a different ways and it looks really cool.

My least favourite part is that Mau Rakau takes alot of enrgy and I get very tired most of the time but sometimes I am not tired after Mau Rakau.

In Mau Rakau I learnt how to hold the rakau and in many different ways as well, I also learnt how to do different many moves and actions.

I did not understand the part where the Mau Rakau teacher shows us a new move and then after a couple of classes I get the hag of it.

This term in tuhituhi we have been doing persuasive writing, lots and lots of persuasive writing. My favourite part was when we had to persuade the reader and I also just like writing because writing is fun because sometimes you can use your imagination and you can make really exciting and interesting and cool stories. It is so fun to write and a good skill to learn.

My least favourite thing was having to do persuasive writing over and over again. Sometimes I just want to do a free write and put all of my imagination into the story because it can be really fun sometimes depending on my mood.

In tuhituhi I learnt how to write a good piece of persuasive writing. It was pretty boring at first but when I started getting the hang of it it was actually really fun.

I didn’t understand persuasive writing when it was introduced to us. It was quite confusing and frustrating. It was really hard to get the hang of it.
